Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 104

Lot 1362

1875. PCGS graded Proof 65 PQ. Lovely blue toning on both sides. Nicely struck and popular as a first year type coin with a scant 2,790 pieces struck in proof. The Twenty-cent piece was a most unusual denomination, given we had dimes and quarters already in production at that time. Furthermore, the Twenty-cent piece only lasted for two years as a production coin, and four years in the proof format terminating in 1878. At the gem level, these are undeniably rare and important, as demand from type collectors is substantial for this high quality. Pop 19; 14 finer; 1 in 65+; 12 in 66; 1 in 67. (PCGS # 5303) Estimate Value $6,000 - 6,500
