Sale 100

Lot 1160

1847. PCGS graded MS-63+. CAC. PQ. Untoned and boldly struck with full definition on Liberty's curls as well as the eagle's talons and feathers. While not a particularly tough date in terms of the number known, this is clearly one of the finest graded, with just a half dozen seen technically better by PCGS. Interesting bisecting and branching die crack on the reverse, attesting to how sharply this coin was struck. Just recently graded. Popular as a type coin. Pop 3; 6 finer, 4 in 64, 2 in 66. (PCGS # 8231) Estimate Value $5,000 - 5,500

Realized $8,225
