Lot 96

1828 N-6 R1 Large Date PCGS graded MS65 Brown. Attractive lustrous medium steel brown with light bluish steel overtones and traces of mellowed mint red remaining on both sides, particularly on the reverse. The only notable marks are a couple tiny ticks in the field right of star 4, but these are easily lost in the tiny lumps that are sprinkled over the obverse (all caused by die rust). Otherwise this cent is choice and the eye appeal is excellent. LDS. All the fine obverse die cracks described by John Wright for this variety are present but the repunching on the left side of the O in OF remains clear. Not seen by Noyes or Bland. Our grade is MS62+. The attribution and Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; tied for finest BN of the variety at both services. PCGS #36889. Estimate Value $3,000 - UP
Ex Tony Terranova 11/1996-Manuel Ahumada Collection (includes the Terranova envelope).

Realized $4,700
