1960s Mercury seven signed ECHO I display. Beautifully matted and framed to 17½"½x14½" size display that salutes the first communication satellite, ECHO I, with 1960 cacheted first day cover for ECHO I 4¢ postage stamp with seven lines radiating away from cover. Each line bears printed name of each Mercury astronaut below the line and each astronaut signed above the line that bears their name. All are early signatures. Includes Scott Carpenter, Gordon Cooper, John H Glenn Jr, Walter Schirra, Alan B Shepard Jr, Donald K Slayton and Virgil I Grissom. Schirra, Slayton and Grissom have faded somewhat but are still easily readable. A piece of Mylar balloon material, 3"x¾", of the type used on ECHO I is mounted on the bottom of the display. On reverse is a 2010 cacheted cover honoring ECHO I silver anniversary. One of the most unusual Mercury seven signed items we have ever seen. Wonderful display piece. Support material included.
Estimated Value $3,500 - 5,000.
