Lot 93

1828 N-1 R1 Large Date PCGS graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous reddish tan and steel brown with faded mint red covering about 25% of the planchet. No spots or stains, only microscopic contact marks. A dull horizontal scratch over the C in CENT and a vertical one right of the E in ONE can help identify this piece, but they do not catch your eye. MDS with a bit of crumbling in the dentils over the second S in STATES. The diagonal dashes right of that S are dull but visible and the die crack through CA-stem-ribbon-and UNITED is clear. A nice example of a variety that is difficult to find in mint state. Noyes says MS61 ands CC#2, his photo #35159. Bland says MS60+ and CC#2. Our grade is MS60+. The attribution and Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 2 finer in 64 for the variety. PCGS #36874. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
