Lot 91

1846 N-26 R5 Tall Date, Repunched 1 PCGS graded AU53. Attractive frosty medium brown and light chocolate with a splash of reddish chocolate toning at star 1. Otherwise this cent is choice. Satiny mint frost shows in the protected areas on both sides. A faint diagonal hairline under the hair buns and a vertical hairline left of the O in ONE are the only notable contact marks. MDS, die state b. There is crumbling inside the N in UNITED and the spike through the wreath right of the bottom of the E in ONE is clear. The horizontal line through the middle of the 1 is clear. A very important example of a variety that seldom comes nice. Our grade is VF35, tied for CC#2 honors in the Grellman census. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 63 for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $1,000-UP

Ex William D. Simonson 2/11/2008-Fred Iskra Collection.

Realized $1,704
