1871. PCGS graded Proof 65. Lovely blue toning on both side, deeper at the rims and lighter rose-gold tones in the fields. The devices are fully struck and show all the finer nuances of the design, right up the stars highest point. The fields and devices are free of any distracting marks nicks, with the gorgeous antique toning accentuating the design elements. While not all that many were struck in proof for the year, this one stands tall as one of the finest survivors both technically and visually. Only 960 struck.
