1846 N-18 R1 Small Date PCGS graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved. Very attractive lustrous steel brown and olive with at least 10% of the mint red remaining, mostly on the reverse. The fields are satiny and nearly free of marks. A small, barely visible scuff in the field over star 8 and a small spot of reddish brown toning at the left side of N in CENT are the only defects, and they are trivial. LDS, die state f. The die cracks at MER are clear and a tiny lump has formed on the bottom edge of the outer hair bun. Strong strike doubling shows on much of the reverse, clearest at OF AMER. A beautiful cent with choice eye appeal. Our grade is MS62, tied for CC#6 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
