Lot 837

1921-S. NGC graded MS-65. Here is a premier condition rarity of the Walking Liberty half dollar series, the 1921-S in Gem mint state. After all the years of certified grading (35 years now!) to date NGC records only 23 grading events of a 1921-S grading MS-65 or finer (only 2 thus!). Duplication within those meager numbers is likely. What we have here is a coin of desitiny, a prize worthy of the great hunt--sought after by so many but attained by so few. This condition rarity will always be representative of the highest and best of this majestic series.

For the particulars, this is a virtually white coin, with glittering and resplendent luster, and just a hint of light tone on both sides. The strike is sharper than often seen, with Liberty's thumb well outlined and clear to the unaided eye. Handling marks are diminutive, of course none are worthy of note, as expected for the gem level grade--particularly on this key condition rarity. As such, this is one of the finest certified, and most sought after issues of this glorious series. Pop 21; 2 finer in 66. Estimated Value $70,000 - UP
