Lot 817

1882. NGC graded MS-67. Star. A fully white gem with nice reflective fields that also offer a degree of thick satin frost, particularly on the devices. The strike is absolute and crisp. As far as toning, there is just a pale blush of gold, otherwise white as noted. An incredibly tiny issue for circulation, as half dollars and most other denominations just weren't needed in commerce at this time, so only a token number were produced in 1882. This coin is absolutely one of the finest to survive, with resounding eye appeal and glorious quality, earning the "star" for eye appeal from NGC along with the Superb grade level. Boldly struck. Only 4,400 struck. Pop 2; only 2 examples graded finer in 68 at NGC. Estimated Value $10,000 - UP
