1817 N-12 R3 PCGS graded AU53. Glossy light to medium brown with a splash of slightly darker olive brown and steel toning on the obverse. Hints of very faded mint color remain visible in protected areas on the reverse. The surfaces are smooth and there are only a few minor contact marks including a faint diagonal hairline scratch off the lower right point of star 6 and a long, thin nick above star 12. The reverse is choice. MDS with a bold connection between the tops of the 1 & 7 in the date in addition to the earlier cracks on the obverse. Graded EF40 net VF35 and tied for CC#14 in the Noyes census, his photo #33301. Our grade is EF40. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS #36583. Pop 1; 8 graded higher at PCGS for the variety, 1 in 58, 3 in 62, 4 in 63. Estimated Value $2,500 - UP
