Lot 799

1847 N-8 R3 NGC graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Choice frosty light olive and steel brown with 15% of the mint color remaining visible on the reverse. Sharply struck and nearly flawless. The only mark is a small carbon spot connecting the bases of the N & E in ONE. EDS, die state a, with fine die polishing lines covering the obverse fields and before the die crack through the top of ME in AMERICA. A great cent. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#4 honors for the variety but tied for finest of those known in the early die state. And it comes with a very nice provenance.
Estimated Value $800-UP.
