Lot 785

1814 Overton-109, R-2. PCGS graded MS-65. Lovely blue, lilac and golden toning over lustrous surfaces. The strike is sharp despite the oft seen challenges for 1814 half dollars--those are abundant clash marks! The ghostly images of the opposing die are clearly set in die steel on this example, with the eagle's wing extending through the left obverse field, the scroll above the date. For the reverse Liberty's upper cap is seen from the stem tip to the arrowheads. Fantastic quality and eye appeal with the radiant and colorful blue, gold and lilac shades on both sides, well struck too, and carefully preserved since the day it was struck. Pop 14; 7 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 6105) Estimated Value $8,000 - 8,500
