Lot 761
1841 N-7 R2 NGC graded MS62 Red & Brown. A mint state cent that was very lightly cleaned long ago and has nicely retoned a natural-looking medium chocolate and steel brown with traces of frosty very faded red in protected areas. There are a couple tiny ticks on the throat and two more very light vertical nicks on the jawline, none visible without the aid of a good glass. Rare M-LDS, die state c late, with a radial die crack from the dentils left of the date to the throat with a weaker extension from the top of the head to star 8. Our grade is MS60 net AU55, CC#5 of those known with this die crack in the Grellman census.
