1840-C $2.50 Liberty. NGC graded MS-61. A wonderful well struck and intensely lustrous example struck in natural greenish-yellow gold. A truly notable specimen of an issue when seen is usually well worn or full of striking problems. This little treasure certainly ranks among the finest known pieces. In fact, Douglas Winter's Condition Census includes just two pieces at the mint state level. NGC reports 5 in this grade with 1 in MS-62 and 3 in MS-63 (PCGS # 7718) .
