[Lincoln, Abraham] Photograph of Lincoln's Home in Springfield, Illinois. Oval albumen print 6 1/8 x 7 15/16", mounted on 7 1/8 x 9" cardstock, being a view of Lincoln's Springfield home with two figures in the foreground. Photo has some spots and a scratch at lower left corner; mount is worn and missing corners and a piece at bottom center but these blemishes could be matted out, showing only the attractive image. Lincoln has sometimes been identified as the tall figure on the left, but in Lincoln's Photogaphs, Ostendorf points out that this is impossible, given the advertisement on the curb next to the house which mentions a dry goods store that opened in late 1865. (Ostendorf, p. 291).
