Lot 731

1799/8. 13 stars on reverse. B-1, BB-142, Rarity 4. NGC graded MS-63. A frosty white example with periphery russet and gold toning on the reverse. The obverse is mostly white with ample luster present. The strike was sharp enough to bring up most of the finer devices, including the tiny love lock curl on Liberty's neck. This is a later die state of this popular variety, with the reverse die showing a lump area of sinking on the I of AMERICA, and a long arcing crack through the clouds. Certainly this is one of the finer examples known of the popular 1799/8 overdate and is desitined for an advanced collection. Pop 1; only 1 finer in 64 for the variety at NGC. Estimated Value $30,000 - UP
