1787 Massachusetts Cent Ryder 2b-A Rarity-1. NGC graded EF-45. The "Horned Eagle" variety. Dark steel and olive with a swipe of reddish steel toning on the eagle's tail. Sharply struck but the surfaces are dull thanks to a layer of oxidation. May benefit from a proper brushing. No contact marks or other defects. Late die state with a strong "Horn" break (actually a small internal cud) up from the eagle's head. A sharp example of this popular variety. The "Horned Eagle" feature is noted on the NGC label.
