$20 National Bank Note. Third NB, Springfield, MA. Ch. 308. Fr. 639. The third of ten banks to charter in Springfield, yet one of only two to operate throughout the entire era, and also the largest issuer in town with over $11 Million in bank notes issued. The Very Good Red Seal has an edge split at upper right and some edge roughness. Signed likely by a father/son duo, with Frederick Harris as Cashier and Frederick H. Harris as President serving together from 1886 through 1910. Records show that Frederick would rise to President in 1916 and serve through 1926. Estimated Value $400 - UP
