1856 N-18 R1 Italic 5. PCGS graded MS-65 Red & Brown. Lustrous bright mint red fading to steel and light olive brown on the highpoints with two-thirds of the frosty red remaining. Great eye appeal, especially on the obverse, which is essentially flawless. MDS, die state b. The die line through the R in AMERICA is gone but the die lines at the throat are still visible. The fields are slightly rough from die erosion. Called MS65 and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #31523. Our grade is MS65, tied for CC#1 in the Grellman census.
