Lot 656

$5 National Bank Note. First NB of Suffield, CT. Ch. 497. Fr. 587. PCGS-C Very Fine 20 Apparent. This was the only bank to charter in this Hartford county locale, having done so in Jun 1864. The bank would last throughout the entire National Banking era, issuing just under $3.5 Million in banknotes. Likely this is the only Red Seal known on the bank, and this is its first appearance since 2006 where it sold for $7,475. PCGS Currency mentions a restoration at right edge, which is noticed once the note is candled. Estimated Value $5,000 - UP
