Lot 64

1845 N-12 R3 PCGS graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved. Very attractive lustrous bluish steel brown and light olive with 5-10% of the mellowed mint red remaining. The only notable defect is a small spot of very shallow reddish chocolate verdigris on the throat. The spot is not distracting and the overall eye appeal is excellent. Sharply struck LDS, die state d. There is a narrow but strong rim cud extending from star 4 down to below star 3 and fine die cracks pass through much of the reverse legend. Our grade is MS62, tied for CC#3 overall for the variety but finest of the late die state in the Grellman census. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer, 2 in 64, 1 in 65 for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $500-UP
