1923-S. NGC graded MS-66. Star. Lovely rainbow toning on both sides on this key date issue. The strike is fairly sharp for a San Francisco buffalo nickel of this era, and the surfaces are virtually pristine with no noticeable handling marks. A glorious top end example of this condition rarity, and one of the very finest to survive of this prized issue. The NGC star is only awarded to the most attractive coins for the grade, in this case for the glorious toning we assume, although the surfaces are amazing too!
