1817 N-10 R1 MS62. The obverse is lustrous chocolate brown with bluish steel overtones and small splashes of slightly lighter brown toning mixed in. The reverse is frosty medium brown with slightly darker steel brown highpoints. A small spot of darker chocolate brown toning on the left upright of the N in CENT is the only notable mark. MDS with a tiny rim cud break connecting two dentils at star 2 and several small die chips down from the dentils right of the second S in STATES (apparently caused by a small screw that damaged the reverse die during this marriage). Called MS63 choice and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #28838. Bland says MS60 and tied for CC#4. Removed from a PCGS slab graded MS65BN (PCGS label included, and it shows the attribution and Naftzger provenance). Now housed in a PCGS MS65 BN holder. (PCGS # 36577).
