Lot 597
1853 N-22 R2+ Repunched 18 MS62. Lustrous red mellowing to light steel brown on the highpoints with two-thirds of the red remaining. No marks or stains and the eye appeal is outstanding. Looks like a gem Red & Brown cent but the highest points of the devices have been lightly rubbed, possibly with an oil cloth, leaving a hint of gloss on those places. MDS, die state b. The repunching at the bottom of the 1 & 8 is clear. Graded MS65 and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #30028. Tied for CC#7 honors in the Grellman census. Estimate Value $500 - UP
