Lot 568

1798. B-16, BB-110, Rarity 6. PCGS graded AU-50. Lovely toning on both sides with iridescent peripheral toning around the rims, the centers more silver gray. No adjustment marks or detracting nicks, and this is a tough die pairing to find in any grade The obverse die broke early in the coinage of this die pair with a thick crack forming atop the 17 that extneds to the left as more coins were struck. Virtually every coin from these dies displays a different die state, as the crack grew rapidly, soon ending this die marriage. This coin is the fourth finest of the variety and important as such. Semi-reflective fields. Pop 1; 2 finer, 1 in 55, 1 in 62. (PCGS # 40027) Estimate Value $5,000 - 5,500
Ex Hesselgesser Collection.
