Lot 561

1856 N-14 R1 Italic 5 PCGS graded MS65 Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous mint red fading to steel brown with about 25% of the planchet showing mint red. This cent appears to have more mint color than many that have received an "RB" rating from PCGS. The surfaces are covered with satiny frost and the only mark is a single nick hidden in the dentils at the bottom of the reverse. A nice example of a common die variety. MDS, die state b. The tiny bar under the 8 is gone and the line up to the left from the chin is faint. The tip of the coronet is not fully struck up, which is normal for this variety. Our grade is MS63. The attribution and Tucker provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; tied for finest graded of the variety at either service. Estimate Value $400 - UP
Ex Chris McCawley 7/10/1998-Dr. Bruce Tucker Collection.
