Lot 535

1848 N-33 R5- PCGS graded MS65 Brown. Highly lustrous and very attractive frosty light olive and bluish steel brown with nearly 5% of the mellowed mint red remaining on the obverse, less on the reverse. Sharply struck and essentially flawless except for a thin diagonal nick low on the front edge of the neck. EDS. The always present die cracks on the reverse are clear and the fine die lines from the dentils under star 13 are crisp. A superior example of this tough die variety. Our grade is MS63, CC#1 by a small margin in the Grellman census. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 2; tied for the finest MSBN examples graded at both services. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
