1847/47 N-31 R5 Large 7 over Small 7 NGC graded MS63 Brown. Frosty medium brown and steel. There is a very thin layer of natural oxidation covering this cent but underlying satiny mint luster shows through in the fields and protected areas. The only notable defect is a small patch of very fine carbon on the rim at star 13. LDS, die state d, with all the die cracks described by Grellman. The repunching on the 47 is clear (usually called a "Large 7 over Small 7). Our grade is AU55. An important example of this tough die variety, CC#5 in the Grellman census. Estimate Value $750 - UP
