Lot 516

1818 N-4 R4+ PCGS graded F15. Glossy medium chocolate brown and steel with slightly lighter toning on the devices. The surfaces are smooth, void of any corrosion or verdigris. Minor contact marks consistent with the grade are scattered over both sides, none significant or distracting. A shallow planchet flake on the tip of the bust and a small pinprick under the right foot of the N in CENT can help identify this cent. LDS with a strong horizontal die crack from the dentils through star 3 into the field towards the upper lip. The O in ONE is weakly struck, which is typical for the late die state of this tough variety, but everything else is strong. A nice mid-grade example of this very scarce die variety, the toughest of the year. Our grade is F12. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Estimate Value $800 - UP

Realized $2,115
