Coca-Cola: Impossibly Rare 1898 Tin Sign Highlighting Health Benefits "Specific For Headache". Pre-1900 and rare Coca-Cola embossed tin sign thought to be one of only two known. Clearly in poor condition, remnants of its period appeal and beauty are still apparent. Sign has been nailed to a frame for likely a century and measures 28 x 19½". A lovely woman wearing blue is seated at a small table with a potted palm drinking a glass of Coca-Cola. Copy reads: "Drink Coca-Cola (early version of logo) Delightful Summer and Winter Beverage, Relieves Mental & Physical Exhaustion, At Soda Fountains 5¢, Specific For Headache" with the words "Drink, Coca-Cola 5¢" and "Specific Headache" in raised letters. The condition of this sign is apparent including significant rusting, oxidation, scratches, paint loss, nails and nail holes to edges, and small contusions. But there remains an appeal for this piece by those specific collectors who can appreciate the history this sign. represents of Coca-Cola in 19th Century America. Estimated Value $1,500 - UP
From The Private Collection of James Harrison Ring.
