Lot 475

1844 N-5 R1 First 4 Repunched PCGS graded MS62 Brown. Frosty tan and light olive with generous traces of mint red showing on the reverse. Looks mint state but there is a hint of friction on the highest points of the devices. The only notable mark is a thin, light horizontal nick in the field under star 7. MDS, die state c early. The repunching on the first 4 is obvious and a very fine die crack passes through the tops of ME in AMERICA, but the cud break on the rim under star 1 has not formed. Our grade is AU55. The attribution and Tucker provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer, 1 in 63, 2 in 64 for the variety. Estimate Value $350 - UP
Ex Chris McCawley 1/1/2010-Dr. Bruce Tucker Collection.

Realized $793
