Ringling, Al and John. Two attractive Ringling Bros. checks signed ("Al Ringling"), Baraboo, Wis., one signed Dec. 21, 1912 and one Dec. 13, 1913, both written on the Bank of Baraboo. With a typed letter signed ("John Ringling"), 1 page, 10½ x 7¼ in., New York, N.Y., Sept. 20, 1932. To Walter Trumbull, North American Newspaper Alliance, thanking him for a telegram, regretting that it got "mixed up in the bails of letters and telegrams that were showered on me," and looking forward to the time when they can "talk pitchers and pictures." Al (1861-1919) and John (1866-1936) were two of seven Ringling siblings from Baraboo, Wisconsin who transformed their small touring company into one of America's largest circuses in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They ultimately merged with other circus troops, creating the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, which still tours today under that name. With a photo of John (the most famous brother) and his wife on vacation in Miami Beach, including the press blurb. (4 items).
