Collection of Notable European Author Including, ALS Signed Twice by Sir Walter Scott, Elizabeth Benger, Madame Anna de Staël + 3 More Notables. Collection of European artists and authors
1.) Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832), autographed letter signed twice signed with transcription. Letter extends an invitation to a Mr. & Mrs. Furris for dinner with another notation saying he intends to call on Mr. Furris asking to have accounts ready. Conveys with a fine engraving lifted from a volume for framing with manuscript. 7 x 6"
2) Elizabeth Benger (1775-1827) author and poet with significant social messages in her work such as " The Abolition of the Slave Trade" and then turned to biographies of Elizabeth Hamilton, John Tobin, Elizabeth of Bohemia, Anne Boleyn and Mary, Queen of Scots.
3.) Madame Anna de Staël (1766-1817) author and political theorist who famously lived in exile to escape persecution by Napoleon. Partial ALS 5½ x 4½" but the signature is excellent. Conveys with hand tinted portrait engraving.
4.) Richard Brinsely Sheridan (1751-1816) celebrated Irish playwright of very successful comedies of manner and former Secretary of Navy in Britain, signed free frank.
Also included are two ALS by Filippo Pistrucci, and Italian artist and Jacques Joseph Champollion brother to Jean-Francis both instrumental in deciphering the Rosetta Stone. Estimated Value $300 - 500
