Lot 431

1851 N-2 R1 PCGS graded MS65+ Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous mint red fading to steel brown on the highpoints, about two-thirds of the mint color remaining. Can't see why this one didn't get an "RB" designation from PCGS. No spots or notable signs of contact. LDS, die state b. The die line at the throat and the ones at the inner curl are gone. The dies are worn and the top of the 8 is weak. A very attractive example, close to gem quality. Our grade is MS64, tied for CC#7 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Fricke provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 66 for the variety. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
