Lot 399

1857 N-4 R1 Small Date PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous mint red fading to steel brown with about two-thirds of the planchet showing mint color. The only notable marks, and they are insignificant, are a barely visible planchet chip on the coronet left of the L and a shallow low spot right of the E in ONE (both defects as struck). MDS, die state b. The fine die line from star 2 to the dentils is gone but the dull point down from the bottom of the inner hair bun remains visible. A very nice red & brown cent. Our grade is MS64, tied for CC#2 honors in the Grellman census. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 1 finer in 65 for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $2,000-UP

Ex Chris McCawley 12/27/2012-Fred Iskra Collection.

Realized $2,350
