Lot 385

1856 N-11 R1 Upright 5 PCGS graded MS65 Brown, CAC Approved. Beautiful lustrous medium steel brown and light chocolate with 5% of the mint color showing on the obverse, 30% on the reverse. Nearly flawless. The best identifying marks are a faint spot of darker toning resting on top of the nostril, a shallow planchet flake in the field under the hair bun, and some unevenness along the rim over MERICA. E-MDS, die state a late. The fields are covered with fine flowlines but the dull spike from the left top of the R in AMERICA is still visible. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#2 in the Grellman census. Pop 47; 5 finer at PCGS for the variety, 2 in 65+, 3 in 66. Estimated Value $850-UP

Ex Heritage 3/11/2015-Fred Iskra Collection.
