Lot 382

Great Britain. ½ Sovereign, 1887. Victoria Young Head, Shield reverse. WR-359. Proof of Record. Reeded edge, so sharp it is knifelike. R7: nearly unique; the only other known piece is in the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford. Missing from the Royal Mint collection! Obviously struck to record the end of the Young Head coinage, for in 1887 only the Jubilee Heads were made for currency and for the normal Proof sets. A lovely, dazzling brilliant coin with wonderful eye-appeal. PCGS graded Proof 65 Deep Cameo.
Estimated Value $10,000 - 15,000.

Realized $21,275
