Lot 368

1855 N-7 R1 Upright 55 PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Lustrous light olive and steel brown with hints of bluish steel overtone on the reverse and a couple faint peeps of faded mint color on the obverse. There is a shallow planchet void or low spot in the center of the cheek, as struck, plus some tiny pinpricks in the field off the brow lock. Otherwise the surfaces are satiny and free of defects. LDS, die state d, with a faint die crack through the top of MERIC, clearest at RI. The fields are flowlined and the date is weak from die wear. Our grade is MS60. Not in the overall condition census but finest of the late state in the Grellman census. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 2 finer in 65 for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $300-UP
