Photographers, Late 1800s. Actors, Actresses and the Costumed. Collection of 75+ Photos. A collection of cabinet cards of actors, actresses, and likely, society swells who simply like to dress in costume for photos. 34 cards measure 8" x 4" and are fantastic in that a full length image of the subject is captured clearly showing the costumes, some quite beautiful and others, admittedly, quite hilarious. 25 cards measure 6½" x 4¼" and finally 19, 6½" x 4¼" cards are what are called today, contact sheets, here showing 12 images per cabinet card. Many of the portraits are identified in writing on verso, but its the stories that are told in the fanciful images that intrigue. We had 5 lots of these vintage original photographs in our last auction which all proved very popular for collectors. In this auction, the remaining two lots from the original collection have been made available which completes their sale. Overall in excellent condition.
