Maximinus II, 309-313 AD. Gold Aureus (5.13 g), Nicomedia mint, struck 310-311 AD. Very rare. Laureate head right. Reverse: Jupiter stands left, nude but for cloak, holding fulmen and scepter; IOVI CONSERVATORI, NK (ligature). RIC --; C. --; Calico 5015a; also a poorer example in CNG Sale 49 (3-17-99), lot 1771. Excellent strike, on virtually round flan. Stylish, with handsome dark gold to slightly reddish toning. Nearly Extremely Fine.
