Lucius Verus, AD 161-169 AD. Gold Aureus (7.36 g) minted at Rome, Dec. AD 166-Dec. 167. Laureate and cuirassed bust right of Lucius Verus. Reverse: Victory advancing left, holding wreath and palm. RIC 573; C. 294; Calicó 2198. Lustrous, almost mirror-like in obverse field, and struck in high relief on a large flan. Superb Extremely Fine.

Lucius Verus was co-emperor (AD 161-169) with Marcus Aurelius. Their coinage mostly extols the victories in Parthia, Armenia and Media.
