Hadrian, AD 117-138. Gold Aureus (7.38 g) minted at Rome, AD 134-138. Laureate, cuirassed and draped bust right of Hadrian. Reverse: Hadrian on horse pacing right, raising right hand. RIC 348(e) [as Scarce]; Calicó 1221a. Lustrous and struck in high relief; a wonderful melding of artistry and workmanship. A gem of a specimen. Superb Extremely Fine.
