Carian Dynasts. Maussollos, 377-353 BC. AR Tetradrachm (15.07 g). Head of Apollo facing, slightly right. Reverse: Zeus Labraundos standing right, holding double axe (labrys) and lotus-tipped scepter; ME monogram behind. SNG von Aulock 2358; SNG Kayhan 873; cf. CNG Sale 67, lot 747, for same obverse die. A very bold, sweetly styled portrait. Minor peripheral striking weakness on reverse. Toned. A nice Very Fine.
