1837 N-3 R1 Plain Hair Cord PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown, CAC Approved. Variety with Medium Letters on Reverse. Beautiful lustrous mint red mellowing to light olive and steel brown. Half the original mint color remains on each side. The only marks are a small, light rim bruise over star 4 and tiny splashes of slightly darker toning scattered over the reverse. Sharply struck E-MDS with the usual die cracks on the reverse (which are present even on the earliest proof strikes) and no die flowlines. All of the stars show full radial lines and the leaves display sharp veins. A premium example of the date, type, or die variety depending on your collecting objective. Our grade is consistent with the PCGS grade. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 2 finer in 65 at PCGS for the variety. Estimated Value $600-UP
