Kingdom of Macedon. Alexander III, the Great, 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.33 g) minted posthumously at Temnos, c. 188-170 BC. Head right of Herakles, wearing lion's skin headdress. Reverse: Zeus enthroned left, holding eagle and scepter; in left field, two monograms; in lower left field, one-handled amphora with grape and leaf tendril around. Cf. Price 1687 (same monograms, only in right field). Struck on a medallic flan, 39.50 mm in diameter. A very attractive example of this late Hellenistic issue. Very Fine.
