George Caitlin Six Vintage Original Prints of the First Important Record of the Plains Indians Published 1876. 9 Plates/Images (1796-1872) Remarkable American adventurer, painter and author who made five trips to the West to chronicle through his art in the 1830's. After, he set about creating a vast number of work from his sketches and note he tried to sell his works to the US Government but ultimately The Smithsonian and other institutions began archiving his works. In 1876 he published a color tinted edition of his engravings published by Chatto & Windus, Piccadilly, London and these are from those editions. All 9.5 x 6" and in excellent condition. Very suitable for proper framing. Colors remain vibrant.
