Lot 289

1852 N-14 R1 Repunched Date PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown, CAC Approved. Mellowed mint red fading to steel brown and chocolate with at least 25% of the planchet showing underlying mint color. A beautiful cent that offers outstanding eye appeal. The only marks are a couple tiny specks of darker toning in the field under the hair bun and another on the crossbar of the E in ONE. Sharply struck EDS, die state a. The die lines from the dentils at star 2 are crisp and repunching shows on all 4 digits of the date. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#4 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; none finer and the only MSRB example for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $350-UP

Ex Bowers & Merena 11/11/1999:400-Dr. Philip W. Ralls-Ralls Estate, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 1/26/2015:872-Fred Iskra Collection (includes the Ralls collection envelope and both lot tickets).
