Lot 289

1838 N-1 R1 NGC graded MS64 Brown. Highly lustrous bluish steel brown. This cent is choice and quite attractive except for a splash of dark crud at MERI (looks removable). Otherwise the only mark is a light scuff that breaks the frost in the field under the chin. MDS with narrow rim cud breaks on the obverse. The triple peak on the 1 in the date is obvious. Our grade is MS60+. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. Pop 8; 7 graded higher at PCGS for the variety, 5 in MSBN, 2 in MSRB. Estimated Value $400 - UP
Ex Sego, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 6/2/2013:478-Chuck Hall Collection.
