Lot 276

1837 N-9 R1 Head of 1838 PCGS graded MS64+ Brown, CAC Approved. Frosty medium steel brown with hints of bluish steel overtone. Peeps of underlying very faded mint red show on both sides. Sharply struck and quite attractive, close to choice. The only notable marks are two tiny ticks on the jaw and a tiny rim nick at the U in UNITED. M-LDS with several die cracks on the obverse and tiny but clearly defined rim cud breaks above star 4 and right of star 11. A very nice cent with choice eye appeal. Graded MS60 by Noyes, his photo #59624. Our grade is MS60+, close to MS62. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 7 finer: 4 in 65, 3 in 66. PCGS #37132. Estimated Value $700 - UP
